There are many styles when discussing Interior Design. A recent trend has been simple, clean modern farmhouse design. Clean, crisp drapery side panels, minimal lines on furniture frames and less layering when applying accessories. On this day in 1911, Leonardo da Vinci’s masterpiece, the Mona Lisa, was stolen from the Louvre in Paris and remained missing for almost two years. I would have helped the authorities to find this treasure, but was only seven years old and not aloud outside past my bedtime. This still ranks as one of the biggest art heists of the 20th century. One of the reasons that the Mona Lisa remains such a classic work of art is the " sometimes simple is best " approach taken by Leo. In comparison to many contemporary images of the elite, this portrait is stripped of the usual trappings of high status or any hints to the sitter's dynastic heritage.
