"Black friday" is now commonly known as the day after Thanksgiving, as far as shopping is concerned. This moniker began in the 1950's specifically referring to how the Police complained about the influx of people coming to the city to shop. Here is a fun (?) fact. Ask any Historian and he/she will tell you that the ancient Greeks were the first to designate a specific area for feasting.
