The September full moon, better known as the harvest moon, reaches peak illumination this weekend. But unlike most full moons, the harvest moon is famous for hanging around. For several nights in a row, it rises shortly after sunset, creating the impression that the moon is shining brightly night after night. That unusual timing is what makes the harvest moon one of the year's most anticipated skywatching events. Here at Bassett King of Prussia, customers can hunt and order their custom furniture by September 27th for motion/reclining items and October 4th for all other categories and receive it before Thanksgiving (as long as all fabrics, leather and components are available.) As consumer sentiment is focused on gathering with friends, family and entertaining this is an excellent opportunity to suggest a room refresh, highlighting the artisan story of our custom collections featured during the Anniversary sale.Ask about our Interest free Financing. I may be the only one who tends to hit the rewind button this time of year, but I have a sneaking suspicion that I am not alone. I very recently learned that my only child/adopted Mom had an older brother three years her senior and probably never knew that he existed. Even more illuminating, he and his mother (who would have been my grandmother) lived less than ten minutes away from me in my twenties and early thirties. I wish that I could find photos because there's a good chance that I cut one or both of them off in the grocery store line or in busy traffic. Bassett Furniture has been around since 1902 and has kept with the times throughout its' history. Quality, variety and a strong reputation are the main part of our success. Whatever Holiday you celebrate, please keep in mind that we are all in this together. I enjoy working her because of the aforementioned stats and also because virtually all walks of life stop into the King of Prussia location. We invite you to do the s...

We can also see this Season as a time to prepare for Holidays by replacing or touching up Living Spaces in preparation for welcoming friends, family both human and furry. Blue. Blue is a primary color across all models of color space. It is the color of the ocean and the sky and often symbolizes serenity, stability, inspiration, or wisdom. It can be a calming color, and symbolize reliability. Considered a tranquil hue that communicates trust and security the color blue is a go-to choice for financial institutions and tech products. Blue is among the most calming colors in the palette for interior design. In regard to the psychological effects of color, blue relaxes the mind and slows down heart rate, metabolism, blood pressure, and hypertension. Maybe it's time to introduce blue into your home or office interior. If so, let me know and I will help. It may not be easy being green, but working with the color blue is as simple as it is satisfying. Jim Clarey JPClarey@BassettFurniture.Com 610-337-1249

On this day in 2001, the Leaning Tower of Piza was reopened after being closed for almost ten years due to repairs. It was seen as a monumetal task until one excellent brain had the idea to tell people not to stand on only one side at a time and, voila. Fixed. Do you ever walk into a room and start to think about making changes? And the more you think, the more frustrated you become and then you walk out of the room and move onto something else? Sort of like the Leaning Tower, maybe what you need is a fresh pair of eyes (and ears) to sit with you and discuss changes in a relaxed manner. Bassett King of Prussia has a team of highly qualified and experienced Designers who can take the stress out of the most small or large project and make it, well...fun. Indoor, outdoor and combining both is what we do best. Stop in, call or email me to make an initial appointment. Leaning towards peace of mind, a new and improved space and a fresh lease on life. There are many styles when discussing Interior Design. A recent trend has been simple, clean modern farmhouse design. Clean, crisp drapery side panels, minimal lines on furniture frames and less layering when applying accessories. On this day in 1911, Leonardo da Vinci’s masterpiece, the Mona Lisa, was stolen from the Louvre in Paris and remained missing for almost two years. I would have helped the authorities to find this treasure, but was only seven years old and not aloud outside past my bedtime. This still ranks as one of the biggest art heists of the 20th century. One of the reasons that the Mona Lisa remains such a classic work of art is the " sometimes simple is best " approach taken by Leo. In comparison to many contemporary images of the elite, this portrait is stripped of the usual trappings of high status or any hints to the sitter's dynastic heritage. All attention is thus drawn to her face, and that enigmatic expression. (Mona Lisa's real name was Lisa d...

The first day of fall 2023 is on Saturday, September 23, in the Northern Hemisphere. Known as the autumnal equinox, this is the day of the year when day and night are approximately equal in length all over the world. The fall season is a time of change and transition, as the leaves change color and fall from the trees, the days get shorter, and the air gets cooler and hallmark Channel starts teasing with Holiday ads. It is also a time of harvest, as farmers gather the fruits and vegetables that they have grown throughout the summer. Fall is a popular time for people to enjoy outdoor activities, such as hiking, camping, apple picking, collecting cattails and arranging squash in decorative settings. My personal tradition on the first day of Autumn is to remove all Spring/Summer slipcovers and bring them to the dry cleaner. I also change out area rugs and bedding. People are also more inclined toward indoor activities like reading, watching movies, and baking. Oh, and eating. Hal...

Leather Furniture and its benefits. I am featuring leather upholstery today because we are preparing to have a major sale on all leather stationary and motion upholstery. Although leather costs more than most upholstery fabric, there are many benefits to selecting leather pieces for your home or office.Firstly, leather looks great and usually outlasts upholstery fabric 4 to 1, making leather an excellent choice for families with children animals, etc. Leather actually becomes stronger over time. Specially died leathers keep their richness and brightness because the color is absorbed into the material. Easy to clean, leather only needs a soft cloth to wipe off dust and maybe vaccuum once in a while. As supple and attractive as leather is, it nonverbally invites visitors to sit and enjoy its comfort. Almost like an "old school" memory foam gel mattress, leather breathes so it quickly adjusts to body temperature. Like you and I, leather ages well as it becomes softer and more su...

Here is a brief accessory tutorial that I hope you find informative. Functional accessories are items that serve a specific role. Examples of this type of accessory include ashtrays, clocks, lamps and candles. Purely decorative accessories include pictures, sculptures floral arrangements and photos. Many consider mirrors to be purely decorative but I disagree, especially after enjoying a spinach salad. Visit me and I will help you to accessorize, whether it be strictly functional or decorative or hopefully both. Jim Clarey JPClarey@BassettFurniture.com 610-337-1249
