Happy Autumn 2023.

The first day of fall 2023 is on Saturday, September 23, in the Northern Hemisphere. Known as the autumnal equinox, this is the day of the year when day and night are approximately equal in length all over the world. The fall season is a time of change and transition, as the leaves change color and fall from the trees, the days get shorter, and the air gets cooler and hallmark Channel starts teasing with Holiday ads. It is also a time of harvest, as farmers gather the fruits and vegetables that they have grown throughout the summer. Fall is a popular time for people to enjoy outdoor activities, such as hiking, camping, apple picking, collecting cattails and arranging squash in decorative settings. My personal tradition on the first day of Autumn is to remove all Spring/Summer slipcovers and bring them to the dry cleaner. I also change out area rugs and bedding. People are also more inclined toward indoor activities like reading, watching movies, and baking. Oh, and eating. Halloween is the landmark date in the fall calendar and a huge practice in my development. One neighbors decorations are better than the last with ghosts, cemetaries and golblins awaiting everyone around virtually every corner. Now here is the science for you. The start of fall is determined by the astronomical autumnal equinox, which is the day of the year when the Sun crosses the celestial equator, the imaginary line that divides the Earth's Northern and Southern Hemispheres. The autumnal equinox typically occurs on September 22 or 23 in the Northern Hemisphere and on March 20 or 21 in the Southern Hemisphere. The autumnal equinox marks the end of summer and the beginning of fall. Whether you are looking to redecorate spaces in their entirety, or simply refresh, please visit me at Bassett King of Prussia.
