Hallowe'en, Origins and Bassett-Oh, my!

Halloween's origins can be traced back to the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, which marked the end of the harvest season and the beginning of winter. The Celts believed that the boundary between the living and the dead was at its thinnest on the night of Samhain, and that the spirits of the dead would return to earth. To symbolize the end of the harvest, they included apples, pumpkins, or other fall crops. Hallowe'en also marked the end of Summer and the beginning of Winter, but here in Chester County, PA it is sunny and 82 degrees. It also marked the end of Harvest, but I have to say- The grocery store was packed! Today/this evening may not be the perfect time to visit Bassett King of Prussia and make your home furnishing selections ( even tho' our current Sale is mostly better than 30$ off ) but there is (usually) always tomorrow. Autumn Designs/Changing Pines

Hi again and thanks for coming inside from raking to read this post. Bassett is currently having a 20% off sale on just about everything we carry. Enough about Interior Design. Let's talk Pine Trees. You may ask (or just pretend that you did so as not to ruin the flow of my Blog Post) Do any pine trees change color in the fall? Sometimes yes, sometimes no. The old needles of red pines, for instance, will turn a deep copper color before falling, while white pines and pitch pines take on a lighter, golden color. Changing conifer (cone bearing trees) colors can also be the sign of a total needle drop. While that may sound scary, for certain trees it's a way of life. If you would like to maintain the natural beauty of your Bassett Pine Furniture, well, Bassett doesn't make Pine Furniture. But a soft, damp cloth is paramount for wood care because wood never dies.
